Hands off that cell phone while driving in Washington. If you’re not using a bluetooth or some other hands free device while talking and driving in Washington, you could be looking at a $124 ticket. On Tuesday 7/1/08 Washington State’s new cell phone law went into affect banning the holding of a phone to your ear while driving. This ban is considered a secondary offense, meaning you can’t get pulled over just for using your phone in this way. But why take the risk.

Well we finally had some nice weather. It came at a good time, the first official weekend of the 2008 summer.
I had the opportunity to play some paintball this weekend at KC Crusaders http://kc-crusaders.com/ in Sumner Washington. This was my first time playing paintbal.
Once we got started I did enjoy it quit a bit. A few things to note for anyone who plans on playing paintball:
- Wear long sleeve shirts
- Wear contacts instead of glasses so you don’t have to fight with your mask
- Dress with dark colors
- Split a case of paint with another player
- Wear a hat
- Maybe some gloves
- Plan on having a change of clothes or a towel for when you get back into your car
- Bring something to eat and drink
- Get a mask with a fan so your goggle don’t fog up (cost $5 more)
We had about 35 players, and got there about 9:30. I think they opened at 10:00. We all had a coupon for a gun and mask, and after splitting a box of paint with another player, I spent about $45. After getting our masks, guns, air, and paintballs, we finally all made it out to our field, field four at about 10:30. There were several games we played, and since my legs are pretty out of shape I had jello legs after about the first games. Each game lasts about 10 minutes, and the air in your gun lasts for about 3-4 games. We played about 7 games total, and most of us cut out of there about 1:30. I did enjoy my first time paintballing so for anyone thinking about playing, be prepared to get real dirty and have a great time!

Tiger Woods calls it quites, at least for the 2008 season.
Mondy Tiger Woods made an exciting win at the US open. Now Woods says he needs more knee surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee and that he also has a double stress fracture of his left tibia.
Woods has been dealing with the injury, playing in pain since last July. This will be the third surgery in five years on his left knee, but he says doctors have assured him of a positive outcome.
The way he has been playing, I hope he is still on top of his game for next season.

After a tough start Phil Mickelson ends the first round of the 2008 Us Open at even par, and only a few back from the leader. That a boy Phil. Mickelson, Adam Scott and Tiger Woods are scheduled to tee off at 1:36 PM today.

In the news this morning, NWCN reported 55 degree temperatures and a snow level of 3500 ft. There was also plenty of snow which fell overnight they showed at Stevens pass. This is just nuts. I’m having to wear my winter clothes to work. Ahhh…what’s going on?

Leave it to Phil to win with an approach through the trees. Last weekend Phil won the Crowne Point International. Phil, my favorite player, never fails to deliver a scary finish. On the 18th hole, Phil hit a nice wild short iron hook out of the rough and trees. He hit the incredible shot then made a put for birdie.
It was the 34th career victory for Mickelson, who began the final round with a one-stroke lead. But like he did the day before, Mickelson fell behind before regaining the lead on his final putt of the day.

I don’t know about you, but I barely feel like going anywhere anymore. My truck cost nearly $70 to fill up even with the lowest grade gasoline. Now I don’t think It’s really going to be worth my while to find the cheapest fuel around, but if you are interested in finding out what local gas prices are going for in your area I found these sites interesting: http://www.washingtongasprices.com/, and for national prices check out: http://www.gasbuddy.com/.

At 5 p.m. McCain holds a fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bellevue. According to a Web site for the Bellevue event Tuesday evening, tickets are $10,000 for a photo reception, $2,300 for a VIP reception, $1,000 for the main reception, and $33,100 for a “victory dinner.”
McCain appears witless and he should just throw in the towel now. No one should waste their money on this event. According to any online poll: face Obama, he loses; face Hillary, he loses. I feel embarrassed for him when he speaks at the podium. I don’t necessarily dislike the guy, I just don’t think he’s fit to be a president. If McCain is elected, the US would be taken about as seriously as a Dilbert joke.

Sergio was overdue to win such a prestigious PGA event. He showed early on in his career that he clearly has the talent to be one of the worlds best. I think he’s had a few slower years then people expected, but he’s getting it all figured out. His best is yet to come, and watch out Tiger Woods because that time may be now!
Sergio has always been one of my favorite golf competitors. Just like my other favorites Phil Mickelson and Fred Couples; he smiles at the fans, appears humble, and gives others their due respect. I think he’s a great guy, and I hope this win was the beginning of a long streak of top tens.

Even with the the star filled leaderboard going into the weekend, will the 2008 Players Championship Golf Tournament be the same without Tiger Woods?
Tiger, recovering from knee surgery has missed his first Players Championship tournament since turning pro.
The Players tournament is filled will professionals of all ages, and will no doubt continue to be an exciting event; however without Tiger nipping at their heals, the anticipation and competition just doesn’t seem the same. While there are a number of names on the leader board that I am rooting, the thing I am rooting for most is just one player, who can consistently and consecutively give Tiger a run for his money week, after week, and really put some excitement into the game over the next few years.
